The party spent a full week on the road, traversing forests, strips of grassland and one giant fungal colony. Camps were made under giant trees, in hidden clearings, near travelers alters and even once in a curious barn built on a short dock. Several downstream rafts were seen traveling with the current of the river, but no traffic was seen on the mule path.
The party eventually came to a small village called Port Ramhorn. Population in 60s during all but winter, where a skeleton crew of 25 remains. The party made contact with Wharfmaster Tycho who explained that the mule path is typically for beasts of burden to pull cargo rafts against the river current. Both the horse and the donkey were sold to the Wharfmaster in exchange for 40 GP and passage across the lake to Lakeshire. Also while in the village, a suspicious white seagull with black legs, wingtips and face was spotted and brought down. It dematerialized after death the way a familiar does.
The party found themselves aboard a vessel called the Lady of the Lake, owned by a passionate fisherman named Festred. Along the first leg of the journey Festred instructed Haevar and Sender in Nautical Survival 101 (knot tying, how to angle the sail, etc). He also gushed non-stop about the lake and the fish therein.
Long after nightfall, roughly 2am, a group of hobgoblins and some giant wasps attacked the Lady of the Lake, killing Festred and injuring many in the party. Now the party sits adrift in the middle of the lake.
